Include with your message
- whether you use iPhone, iPad, or Android;
- your JewCal version and phone software version;
- what you were trying to do and what happened;
- a screenshot, if it helps explain the problem.
Location and zmanim
If zmanim are missing, open Settings → Location. Choose Automatic and allow location access while using JewCal, or choose a city manually. Manual city search uses JewCal's built-in catalog.
Use Settings → Zmanim settings to choose calculations and adjustments. JewCal can also be configured for Israel or the Diaspora. If you are unsure which configuration is right for you, ask your rabbi for the proper configuration.
Reminders
Open Settings → Reminders and turn on the categories you want. Recommended setup enables candle lighting, holidays, public fast days, and Rosh Chodesh; Mincha and Maariv remain your choice.
If an enabled reminder does not arrive, check that notifications are allowed for JewCal in your phone's settings. On Android, a reminder may be delivered less precisely when exact alarms are unavailable.
Shared calendars
The shared calendar guide covers creating, exporting, importing, and subscribing to calendars.
If an online calendar looks stale, open Settings → Shared calendars, open its menu, and tap Check for updates. JewCal normally checks online calendars about every six hours, even while they are hidden.
Backup and restore
Every full backup is protected by the passphrase you choose. JewCal cannot recover a forgotten passphrase. Restoring a backup replaces the current JewCal data only after you confirm the replacement.
